of South Buffalo, at the age of 93 on December 18, 2024.
Beloved Wife of nearly 70 years to late Joseph E. Dunbar.
Dearest Mother of Mary Jo (Kim) Dunbar, William (Anne) Dunbar, Madonna (late Tenzin) Dunbar and Jennifer (Robert) Crandall.
Inspiring Grandmother to Jesse and Anne Mills and Molly and Justin Crandall. Great-grandmother to Nora.
Loving Sister to Margaret Scanlan, Louise (late Howard) McHenry, Jacqueline Larkin, Joseph (Debbie) Finucane and to the late Mary Dunbar, Rosemary Giampa, Rita Lollier, Thomas Finucane, Patrick Finucane, Jeanette Terriere, Josephine and Theresa Finucane.
Also survived by an extended family from The Old 1st Ward.
Visitation Friday; December 27th from 3-6 p.m. at O'CONNELL-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, same location as 'NORMAN E. GANNON & SONS", 1075 Ridge Rd.; Lackawanna (716-823-0124).
Friends are invited to join the family for The Mass of Christian Burial at OUR LADY OF VICTORY NATIONAL SHRINE & BASILICA, Saturday; December 28th at 10:30 a.m.
Entombment to follow at Holy Trinity Mausoleum of Holy Cross Cemetery.
Her greatest joy was her family. A smart, kind and loving partner to Joe since they met. Joan believed in education and helped her children succeed. She earned a RN degree in her 40’s and was an employee at Buffalo General. She enjoyed shopping, cleaning, praying the rosary and having dessert. Joan will be missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials in Mrs. Dunbar's name to The SPCA Serving Erie County.
